The ONSRUD 52-702 is a double-edge upcut spiral router bit designed for precise cutting in a wide range of plastic and composite materials. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers clean chip evacuation and consistent edge quality across production and jobsite applications. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips away from the workpiece surface, reducing heat buildup and minimizing material deformation. With a 0.5-inch cutter diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, it is well suited for profile routing, slotting, and through-cutting in sheet goods and fabricated plastic parts. A licensed CNC operator or skilled router technician is the typical end user.

This bit is intended for use in CNC routers and handheld router applications where accurate, burr-free cutting of thermoplastics and soft plastic materials is required. The 0.5-inch shank fits standard 1/2-inch collets. The 22-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip flow with right-hand cutting direction. Material applications include ABS, acetal, extruded acrylic, foam, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, soft plastics, solid surfaces, and UHMW. It is not piloted and is designed for free-hand or guided routing along programmed or jigged toolpaths.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or router operator. Power down and de-energize the router spindle completely before installing or changing bits. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and tighten the collet nut with the appropriate wrenches per the router manufacturer's guidelines. Inspect the bit for chips or cracks before each use and do not operate above the maximum RPM specified for the cutter diameter.
