The ONSRUD 52-652 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for cutting hard and soft plastics and solid surface materials. It features a 0.5-inch cutter diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a double-edge, right-hand cutting geometry with an 11-degree helix angle. The upcut flute direction pulls chips up and away from the cut, helping maintain a clean kerf and reducing heat buildup in thermoplastic materials. Machinists, fabricators, and CNC routing technicians working with plastic sheet goods and solid surface panels are the primary users of this tool.
This bit is suited for CNC router applications involving ABS, acetal, acrylic, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, solid surfaces, UHMW, and other hard and soft plastics. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard half-inch router collets. With a 1.875-inch shank length and 3.5-inch overall length, it works in typical CNC router spindle setups for sheet and block material profiling, slotting, and full-depth cuts in thermoplastic stock.
Compatible with ABS, acetal, acrylic, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, solid surfaces, and UHMW; fits any router spindle or collet accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter. Part of the ONSRUD 52-600 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the CNC router powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank to the full recommended collet engagement depth before running the spindle. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the specific plastic being cut. Inspect the collet and collet nut for wear before each tool change to ensure proper gripping force.
