Product Description

The ONSRUD 52-650 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for cutting hard and soft plastics, solid surfaces, and engineering-grade thermoplastics. It features a 0.5-inch cutter diameter, a 1.125-inch length of cut, and a right-hand cutting direction with an 11-degree helix angle. The double-edge flute geometry evacuates chips upward out of the cut, reducing heat buildup and improving surface finish in dense materials. This bit is uncoated and fits a standard 0.5-inch shank collet. It is used primarily by CNC router operators and moldmakers working with sheet plastics and composite panel materials.

This bit is suited for production routing of ABS, acetal, acrylic, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, UHMW, and solid surface materials in both shop and industrial CNC environments. The upcut spiral action is well matched to through-cutting operations where chip clearance from the kerf is a priority. With a 2.375-inch shank length and 3.5-inch overall length, it provides adequate reach for standard router table and CNC gantry setups without excessive overhang.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before bit changes. Insert the shank fully into the collet and tighten to the router or spindle manufacturer's specified torque range using the appropriate collet wrench. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use. Follow safe operating procedures per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.212 for machine guarding when operating CNC routing equipment.
