The ONSRUD 52-638 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for precision cutting in hard and soft plastics and similar engineered materials. Part of the 52-600 series, it features a double-edge, right-hand cutting geometry with an 11-degree helix angle that pulls chips upward and away from the cut, reducing heat buildup and improving surface finish. The 3/8-inch (0.375 inch) cutter diameter pairs with a 1-inch length of cut and a 2-inch shank length, giving machinists and CNC operators a balanced tool for controlled material removal in demanding routing applications.
This bit is suited for use on CNC routers and handheld routing setups where clean, consistent cuts are required in plastic sheet goods and solid surface materials. Typical applications include sign fabrication, prototype machining, fixture work, and general plastic fabrication. It is used by CNC operators, tooling technicians, and trade fabricators working with ABS, acetal, acrylic, HDPE, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, solid surfaces, and UHMW. The uncoated solid carbide construction is appropriate for these materials where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern.
Rated for use with ABS, acetal, acrylic, HDPE, hard and soft plastics, nylon, PE, PET, polycarbonate, solid surfaces, and UHMW. Part of the ONSRUD 52-600 series. Fits any router or CNC spindle accepting a 3/8-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist following the machine manufacturer's tool-change procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the bit. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut according to the router or spindle manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use.
