The ONSRUD 52-574 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit engineered for precision cutting in foam materials. With a 0.375-inch cutter diameter and a 3.5-inch length of cut, this bit handles deep passes in soft foam substrates where clean wall finish and chip evacuation matter. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips upward and out of the cut, reducing heat buildup and keeping the workpiece clear of debris. The 25-degree helix angle balances aggressive material removal with stable cutting action. At 0.18 pounds, the bit is lightweight and suited for high-speed CNC router spindles.
This bit is designed for industrial and production environments where foam fabrication is a regular operation, including sign-making shops, packaging fabricators, and specialty CNC routing operations. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets on most CNC routers and manual routing setups. The 5-inch overall length and 2.5-inch shank length provide clearance for fixturing in typical foam cutting applications. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC router configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style production router bit from the ONSRUD 52-550 series, optimized for foam material applications on CNC routers equipped with a 3/8-inch collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the router spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut according to the router manufacturer specifications. Inspect the bit for chips or cracks before each use and replace any bit showing visible wear or damage.
