The ONSRUD 52-564 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for cutting foam materials. It features a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a 1/4-inch shank. The double-edge, right-hand cutting geometry with a 25-degree helix angle produces clean, efficient chip evacuation in soft, compressible foam substrates. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers consistent edge quality without the added friction of a coating. This bit is used by CNC router operators, fabricators, and tooling specialists working with foam in production or prototype environments.
The 52-564 is suited for routing foam materials in CNC and hand-held router applications. The upcut flute design pulls chips upward and out of the cut, reducing material tear-out and heat buildup in low-density substrates. With a 1.75-inch shank length and standard 1/4-inch shank diameter, the bit fits common router collets used in light-duty CNC machines and portable routers. It is well matched to applications in packaging fabrication, insulation shaping, sign-making blanks, and similar foam-based production work.
Part of the ONSRUD 52-550 series. Designed as a replacement or production-run bit for CNC and hand-held routers accepting a 1/4-inch collet, specifically for foam material applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist. Power down and lock out the router spindle before changing bits. Insert the shank fully into the collet and tighten to the router or collet nut manufacturer's specified procedure. Confirm runout and collet condition before operating, as worn collets accelerate bit wear and can cause chatter in foam.
