The ONSRUD 52-560 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for cutting foam materials. With a 3/16-inch (0.1875 inch) cutter diameter and a 1.625-inch length of cut, this bit removes chips aggressively by pulling them upward and out of the cut. The 25-degree helix angle promotes clean chip evacuation, which helps maintain cut quality in low-density foam applications. The double-edge design provides stable cutting geometry. At 3 inches overall length with a 2.375-inch shank length, the 52-560 fits standard router collets and CNC spindles. It ships uncoated and requires no pilot bearing.
This bit is suited for routing, profiling, and trimming foam - including expanded polystyrene (EPS), polyurethane, and similar soft materials - in CNC routing and hand-router applications. Typical users include sign makers, packaging fabricators, and composite panel shops. The upcut flute geometry is especially useful when through-cuts are required and chip buildup in the kerf is a concern. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation.
Part of the ONSRUD 52-550 series. Designed for use in CNC routers and handheld routers accepting a 3/16-inch shank collet. Optimized for foam material applications as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist familiar with router tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify spindle RPM and feed rate settings are appropriate for foam cutting before initiating a cut cycle.
