The ONSRUD 52-240 is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit designed for high-precision cutting in wood, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood composites. With a 0.125-inch cutter diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut, this bit is built for tight-tolerance routing passes where clean chip evacuation matters. The upcut flute geometry pulls chips up and away from the workpiece, reducing heat buildup at the cutting edge. A 30-degree helix angle and double-edge construction deliver smooth, consistent cuts. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/4-inch shank, it mounts securely in standard collet-style router chucks used on CNC routers and handheld trim routers alike.
This bit is suited for residential shop work, production CNC routing, and light industrial fabrication. It performs well in natural wood, MDF, phenolic, acrylic, and similar solid-surface materials. The small 0.125-inch diameter makes it particularly effective for fine detail work, narrow slots, and profile passes where a larger bit cannot reach. It is a right-hand cutting tool and is intended for use without a pilot bearing, making it a programmer- or operator-guided application in CNC and template routing setups.
Designed for use in natural wood, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood composites. Part of the ONSRUD 52-200 series. Fits any router or CNC spindle accepting a 1/4-inch collet.
Installation is performed by a machinist, CNC operator, or skilled woodworking tradesperson. Before changing bits, power down the router and allow the spindle to come to a complete stop. Insert the shank fully into the collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth and tighten per the router or spindle manufacturer's torque procedure. At 0.125-inch diameter, feed rate and spindle RPM must be carefully programmed to avoid deflection or breakage - consult the ONSRUD speeds and feeds chart for the 52-200 series before first use.
