The ONSRUD 37-03 is a solid carbide engraving cutter designed for precise, fine-detail engraving and marking operations on a range of materials. The conical point geometry produces clean, consistent V-grooves and character outlines at a 60-degree included angle, with a tip diameter of 0.01 inches and a cutter diameter of 0.01 inches. The single-flute configuration channels chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup during cutting. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/4-inch shank, this cutter seats securely in standard collet toolholding systems used on CNC routers and engraving machines. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers edge retention and dimensional stability without the added coating thickness that can affect fine-tip geometry at this scale.
This cutter is suited for engraving operations on aluminum, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood. Typical applications include signage lettering, part marking, decorative routing, and precision V-groove work on flat or contoured stock. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. It fits machines configured for 1/4-inch shank tooling and is used by CNC operators and machinists working with light-to-medium engraving loads across fabrication, sign-making, and manufacturing environments.
Designed for use on CNC routers and engraving machines equipped with 1/4-inch collet toolholding, cutting aluminum, plastics, solid surfaces, and wood. Part of the ONSRUD 37-00 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC operator or machinist. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the cutter. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended grip depth and torque the collet nut per the machine manufacturer's specification. At 0.01-inch tip diameter, inspect the tip for chipping before each use, as fine carbide tips are susceptible to damage from improper handling or excessive feed rates.
