The OATEY 90124 is a solid brass Johni-Bolt closet bolt set designed for floor-mounted toilet installations. Each bolt measures 5/16 inch in diameter and 2-1/4 inches in length. The patented design includes a snap-off slot that eliminates the need to cut the bolt after installation, saving time on the rough-in. A captive washer is integrated into the assembly to keep components together during handling and positioning. Intended for use with a wax ring, the bolt set creates a secure, leak-resistant connection at the base of the water closet. Licensed plumbers and experienced DIYers handling toilet resets rely on this type of hardware for a straightforward, code-compliant installation.
The 90124 is suited for residential and light commercial floor-mounted toilet applications. It is used during new toilet installations and toilet resets where the existing closet bolts are corroded, stripped, or damaged. The snap-off slot allows the installer to break the bolt to the correct height after the toilet is set and the nut is tightened, reducing finishing time. The captive washer keeps the assembly positioned in the closet flange slot while the toilet is lowered into place.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement closet bolt set for floor-mounted toilet applications where a standard 5/16 inch closet bolt is specified.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified installer. Shut off the water supply and flush the tank to empty it before removing an existing toilet. Slide the Johni-Bolt into the closet flange slot and position the captive washer before lowering the toilet bowl onto the wax ring. After setting the bowl and hand-tightening the nut, use the snap-off slot to remove the excess bolt length — do not use a hacksaw on the finished bolt if the snap-off feature is intact. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including applicable sections of the International Plumbing Code, for toilet rough-in and fastener installation.
