The OATEY 33476 is a solvent-weld PVC end cap engineered for hydrostatic pressure testing on drain, waste, and vent piping systems. Rated for testing up to 15 psi or 40 feet of head pressure, the cap features a deep-body design that increases contact area between the cap and pipe, delivering extra sealing strength during pressure tests. The 6-inch diameter fits standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this cap as a temporary closure when pressure-testing new or repaired DWV systems before final inspection.
This cap is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where DWV piping requires hydrostatic pressure testing to meet code requirements. It is installed by solvent-welding the cap directly onto the pipe end, creating a sealed closure for the duration of the test. Once testing is complete, the cap is cut off or the line is abandoned at that point. The deep-socket construction is particularly useful where joint integrity is critical under sustained test pressure.
Designed as an OEM-style solvent-weld end cap for use with 6-inch Schedule 40 PVC drain, waste, and vent piping during hydrostatic pressure testing procedures.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) pressure-testing procedures. Clean and deburr the pipe end, apply PVC primer, then apply solvent cement to both the pipe and cap socket before seating firmly. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer's instructions before applying test pressure. Do not exceed the rated test pressure of 15 psi.
