The OATEY 31320 is a 180-grit open mesh abrasive cloth designed to prep copper pipe and fittings before soldering. The cloth combines a lightweight polyester and nylon open-weave fabric with aluminum oxide abrasive bonded by a phenolic resin adhesive. That construction makes it waterproof and resistant to clogging, so it keeps cutting through oxidation and surface contamination without loading up. Plumbers and pipefitters use it to quickly clean copper surfaces to a bright, solderable finish. The roll measures 1.5 inches wide by 5 yards long, giving enough material for multiple joints on a typical service call.
