The NORTON 69957344982 is a coated abrasive belt engineered for aggressive material removal in demanding grinding and finishing applications. Part of the R980P series, it features a ceramic alumina abrasive grain on a heavy-duty Y-weight polyester backing, delivering the rigidity and heat resistance required for high-pressure belt grinding. The closed coat density maximizes abrasive coverage across the belt surface, making it well suited for fast stock removal on ferrous metals and hard alloys. At 50 grit coarse grade, this belt cuts aggressively and handles both wet and dry operation, giving technicians flexibility across different workstation setups.
This belt measures 3/4 inches wide by 20-1/2 inches long and is sized for portable belt sanders and small stationary grinding machines commonly used in metal fabrication shops, weld dressing operations, and industrial maintenance environments. The ceramic alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, extending belt life compared to conventional aluminum oxide options. Wet or dry compatibility makes it adaptable for coolant-assisted grinding where heat control is critical. This SKU ships as a single belt with a minimum order quantity of 200 units.
Designed as a replacement or production-supply abrasive belt for portable and stationary belt sanders and grinders that accept a 3/4 inch by 20-1/2 inch belt format.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified operator following the equipment manufacturer's belt-tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lockout the machine before changing the belt. Verify belt orientation with the arrow marked on the inner surface to ensure the splice runs in the correct direction of travel. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during belt changes and operation.
