The NORTON 69014192197 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision finishing of hard and abrasive materials. Built with a synthetic diamond (SD) abrasive and resinoid bond, it operates at 220 grit for very fine material removal. The wheel measures 6 inches in diameter, 1/32 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch bore. A 1/8 inch superabrasive depth and 100 concentration rating support consistent stock removal across the full service life of the abrasive layer. Wet operation is required. Licensed trades and tool-room machinists use this wheel for surface grinding applications where tight finish tolerances are critical.
This wheel is suited for finishing operations on carbide, ceramic, glass, and other hard materials on surface grinders. The Type 1A1 form factor is a flat, straight wheel with no recess, making it compatible with standard surface grinding spindle setups. The very fine 220 grit and soft hardness rating (R) make it appropriate for light material removal and final finishing passes rather than aggressive stock removal. It is not tapered and carries no recess geometry, simplifying wheel mounting and dressing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use diamond grinding wheel for surface grinders accepting a Type 1A1 straight wheel with a 6 inch diameter and 1-1/4 inch bore. Specification designation SD220-R100B99-1/8 can be used to cross-reference equivalent wheels from other manufacturers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding specialist. Shut down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Ensure the spindle speed does not exceed the rated maximum for the wheel and confirm coolant flow is established before beginning wet grinding operations.
