The NORTON 66623341105 is a Type 29 flap disc engineered for aggressive material removal on steel and other ferrous metals. Built on the R860 series platform, it uses zirconia alumina abrasive bonded to fiberglass-backed flaps that flex and conform to contoured workpiece surfaces. The Type 29 angled geometry keeps more abrasive in contact with the work during grinding, making it well-suited for blending welds, deburring, and surface conditioning. Rated at 60 grit medium grade, it strikes a balance between stock removal rate and surface finish. The threaded 5/8-11 arbor hole mounts directly to standard right-angle grinders without an adapter. Maximum operating speed is 13,300 RPM.
This disc is designed for use on steels in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and on-site metalwork. The 4.5 inch diameter fits the most common class of handheld angle grinders used in industrial and trade environments. The fiberglass backing provides structural rigidity under lateral load while the zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens during use, extending disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide options. Metal fabricators, pipe fitters, and ironworkers are the primary installers and users of this product.
Designed for use on steels with standard right-angle grinders accepting a 4.5 inch disc and a 5/8-11 threaded spindle.
Installation and disc changes must be performed by qualified personnel with the grinder unplugged or power isolated at the source. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM maximum rated speed of the disc before mounting. Always install the proper guard before operation and wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and hearing protection. Follow ANSI B7.1 safe use requirements for abrasive wheels when mounting, inspecting, and operating this product.
