The NORTON 66261170181 is a 5-inch hook and loop abrasive disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing applications. Built with a non-woven aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a flexible nylon backing, this disc cuts consistently without loading, making it well suited for work on metal, composites, and similar hard surfaces. The coarse grade removes stock efficiently while the non-woven construction conforms to irregular contours. At 0.085 pounds, the disc is lightweight and balanced for extended use on angle grinders and random orbital sanders equipped with hook and loop pads. Maximum rated speed is 10,000 RPM.
This disc is intended for trade and industrial use in metal fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and light manufacturing environments. Licensed trades including pipefitters, millwrights, and sheet metal workers commonly use non-woven conditioning discs for weld blending, corrosion removal, and surface prep before coating or inspection. The flexible nylon backing allows the disc to follow curved and profiled workpiece geometry without hard cutting edges that cause gouging. No vacuum holes are present, so this disc is suited for use without dust-extraction backing pads.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement non-woven hook and loop disc for use with 5-inch hook and loop backing pads on angle grinders and random orbital sanders rated to 10,000 RPM or lower.
Installation is performed by pressing the disc firmly onto a clean, dry 5-inch hook and loop backing pad until the hook fasteners are fully engaged. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 10,000 RPM disc rating before operating. Wear appropriate eye protection and work gloves when changing or using abrasive discs. Inspect the disc for tears or separation before each use and discard any disc showing visible damage.
