The NORTON 66261170179 is a non-woven hook and loop abrasive disc designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing applications. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive on a flexible nylon backing, this disc delivers consistent cutting action across metal, wood, and composite surfaces. The coarse grade makes it well suited for aggressive material removal and surface prep work. At 4.5 inches in diameter, it mounts to standard hook and loop backup pads and runs at up to 12000 RPM. The flexible nylon construction allows the disc to conform to contoured and irregular surfaces, reducing pressure points and improving contact.
This disc is used in metalworking, fabrication, and finishing trades where surface conditioning is required before coating, welding, or final inspection. It is appropriate for both bench and angle grinder applications in shop or field settings. Typical users include metal fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on structural steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials. The coarse grade is particularly effective for weld blending, rust removal, and scale cleanup on flat and curved workpieces. No vacuum holes are present, keeping the disc profile simple and compatible with solid backup pads.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement non-woven hook and loop disc for use with 4.5-inch hook and loop backup pads on standard angle grinders and disc sanders.
Installation and use of abrasive discs should follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards and the grinder manufacturer guidelines. Verify that the tool RPM rating does not exceed the 12000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and ensure the backup pad surface is clean and free of debris for proper hook and loop engagement. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs.
