The NORTON 662611-38457 is a zirconia alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal and other hard surfaces. Built on the NorZon F826 platform, this disc uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain that self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining a consistent cut rate through the life of the disc. At 24 grit, it is suited for heavy stock removal, weld blending, and surface conditioning where fast cutting action is required. The 4-1/2 inch diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole fits standard right-angle grinders commonly used by metal fabricators, welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers.
This fiber disc is designed for use with a compatible rubber or fiberglass backing pad on right-angle grinders in shop and field environments. The 24-grit designation makes it appropriate for initial weld grinding, deburring heavy flash, and removing mill scale or corrosion from steel and other ferrous metals. It is packaged in quantities of 25 discs, making it practical for production environments, job-site replenishment, or shop stock.
Designed for use on right-angle grinders with a compatible 4-1/2 inch rubber or fiberglass backing pad and a 7/8 inch arbor. Suitable for ferrous metals, weld grinding, and surface preparation applications.
A licensed or experienced tradesperson should inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before mounting a new fiber disc. Ensure the grinder is disconnected from power before changing discs. Always use the correct backing pad size and never exceed the maximum RPM rating of the disc or the tool. Eye protection, hearing protection, and appropriate PPE are required during grinding operations.
