The NORTON 662611-31617 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) sanding disc designed for surface preparation, stock removal, and finish work on wood, composites, and painted surfaces. The disc measures 8 inches in diameter with no center hole, making it compatible with PSA-style backup pads of the same diameter. Built on the A275 aluminum oxide paper backing, the P80B grit rating places this disc in the coarse-to-medium range — well-suited for aggressive material removal and initial surface leveling. These discs are sold and packaged for trade volume use with a minimum quantity of 4 units per order.
This disc is used in woodworking shops, cabinet manufacturing, automotive body preparation, and general fabrication environments. The PSA (stick-on) backing allows quick mounting to compatible foam or hard backup pads without the need for hook-and-loop fastener systems. The 8-inch diameter is common on stationary disc sanders and larger random-orbit machines found in production and industrial settings. The coarse P80B grit is typically applied early in a sanding sequence before stepping up to finer grits for surface finishing.
Designed for use with 8-inch PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) backup pads on stationary disc sanders and compatible random-orbit sanding machines that accept no-hole PSA discs.
These discs are installed by a woodworker, fabricator, or finishing technician onto a clean, dry PSA backup pad. Power down the sander and disconnect it from the power source before changing discs. Ensure the backup pad surface is free of adhesive residue and debris before applying the new disc to achieve full, even adhesion. Do not operate the disc beyond the maximum RPM rating of the backup pad or sander.
