The NORTON 66260273574 is a Type 1A1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision material removal and finishing on hard workpiece materials. It features a synthetic diamond (SD) abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond system, producing consistent stock removal and a refined surface finish. At 150 grit with a Very Fine grade and a soft hardness rating (R), this wheel is suited for both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The superabrasive concentration is rated at 100, and the active abrasive depth measures 1/4 inch. The wheel weighs 2.2 pounds and accepts both wet and dry operation, giving technicians and machinists flexibility in their grinding environment.
This wheel is used in surface grinding applications on hard and brittle materials such as carbide, ceramics, glass, and hardened tool steels. Its Type 1A1 flat-face profile makes it compatible with standard surface grinding machines equipped with a 1-1/4 inch arbor. At 8 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with no recess and no taper, it fits straightforwardly into conventional horizontal-spindle surface grinders found in production shops, tool rooms, and maintenance facilities. It is part of the Norton Diamond series, which is designed for consistent performance across roughing and finishing passes.
Designed for use on horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting an 8 inch diameter, 1/2 inch thick Type 1A1 wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole.
Surface grinding wheels must be mounted and dressed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable ANSI B11 safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test per standard practice. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel or machine spindle.
