The NORTON 66254482331 is a 1-inch diameter, non-woven quick-change disc from the Bear-Tex Rapid Prep series, engineered for surface conditioning and finishing on metal and composite workpieces. It features aluminum oxide abrasive grain with a medium grade, 80-grit rating and is rated to 40,000 RPM. The maroon polyester and nylon web backing provides flexible, conformable contact with the workpiece surface. Clean Bond resin technology helps prevent smearing and loading, while the high-loft nylon fiber construction extends service life beyond standard abrasive discs. Compatible with TR (Type III) and Type R quick-change attachment systems.
This disc is suited for surface prep, blending, and light deburring on a wide range of materials including stainless steel, soft and hard carbon steels, cast iron, ductile iron, gray iron, copper, brass, bronze, titanium, tool steels, super alloys, and fiberglass or composite substrates. It mounts to die grinders and handheld disc sanders, making it a practical choice for fabrication shops, maintenance technicians, and field service work where controlled material removal and clean finishes are required.
Designed for use with TR (Type III) and Type R quick-change disc systems on die grinders and handheld disc sanders. Suitable for use on 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, ductile iron, fiberglass and composites, gray iron, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, and tool steels.
Mounting and disc changes should be performed with the grinder or sander fully powered down and disconnected from the air supply or power source. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 40,000 RPM disc rating before operation. Seat the quick-change button firmly into the TR-compatible holder before applying tool power. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace if the web backing shows tears or delamination.
