The NORTON 66254430117 is a coarse-grit fiber disc from the RazorStar series, engineered for aggressive material removal on metal, welds, and fabricated surfaces. Built with ceramic alumina abrasive on a fabric backing, it delivers fast cut rates and extended disc life compared to conventional aluminum oxide options. The 4.5-inch disc mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole for direct attachment to compatible angle grinders and disc grinders, eliminating the need for a separate backing pad. At 36 grit, this disc is suited for heavy stock removal, weld grinding, and surface preparation work. It is installed and used by metal fabricators, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians.
This fiber disc is intended for use on angle grinders and right-angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Typical applications include weld blending, burr removal, edge chamfering, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The coarse 36-grit ceramic alumina construction makes it well suited for high-stock-removal passes where a finer finish is not the immediate goal. The RazorStar series fabric backing provides structural rigidity to resist flexing under load during flat or contoured surface work.
Designed for use with angle grinders and disc grinders fitted with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Verify grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum of 20,000 RPM before use.
This disc is installed by threading directly onto the grinder spindle — no separate backing pad is required. Before mounting, confirm the grinder is unplugged or the battery is removed, and inspect the disc for cracks or damage prior to each use. Always wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when operating at grinding speeds. Follow ANSI B7.1 and tool manufacturer guidelines for abrasive wheel mounting and guarding.
