The NORTON 66254427846 is a Type III quick-change abrasive disc from the RazorStar series, designed for aggressive material removal in grinding and surface preparation applications. The disc measures 2 inches in diameter and features 36-grit ceramic alumina abrasive on a cloth backing with a Y-weight backing grade. Ceramic alumina abrasive cuts faster and runs cooler than conventional aluminum oxide, extending disc life under heavy use. The disc is rated to a maximum of 30,000 RPM, making it compatible with high-speed die grinders and right-angle grinders used in metalworking and fabrication environments. Installation and removal are handled without tools via the Type III quick-change attachment system, also known as Type R.
This disc is suited for weld blending, deburring, edge chamfering, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The coarse 36-grit cut rate makes it appropriate for stock removal and initial surface preparation rather than finishing passes. The yellow cloth backing resists tearing under moderate-to-heavy pressure, and the ceramic alumina grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining consistent cut rate. Fabricators, welders, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance techs are the primary installers. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 25 units.
Compatible with Type III and Type R quick-change mandrels used on pneumatic and electric die grinders and right-angle grinders that accept 2-inch quick-change discs.
Installation requires a compatible Type R or Type III quick-change mandrel threaded into the grinder spindle. Verify the grinder's free-speed RPM does not exceed the 30,000 RPM disc rating before use. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc that shows cracks, gouges, or delamination.
