The NORTON 66253363976 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on hard and difficult-to-grind materials. It measures 14 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole, and is built with a ceramic abrasive grain bonded in a vitrified matrix. Rated at a maximum of 1800 RPM, it carries a K hardness code and medium grade designation. The ceramic grain is semi-friable, meaning it fractures under load to continually expose fresh cutting edges, making it well-suited for high-pressure surface grinding applications where wheel life and cut rate both matter.
This wheel is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in industrial and production shop environments. Its ceramic vitrified construction is particularly effective on 400-series stainless steels, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is most commonly installed and used by tool-and-die shops, production grinding operations, and machine shops running precision surface work on ferrous and specialty alloy workpieces.

Installation should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or maintenance technician following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation using the ring test, and never exceed the maximum operating speed of 1800 RPM stamped on the wheel or blotter. Use proper flanges and a compressible blotter on each side of the wheel as required by ANSI standards.
