The NORTON 66253363815 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for high-performance stock removal on hard ferrous metals and specialty alloys. Built with ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 14 inches in diameter, 1-1/2 inches thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole. The 80 grit, K hardness (medium grade) combination delivers consistent cut rates and controlled surface finish. Rated at a maximum of 1800 RPM, it is designed for professional use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The semi-friable ceramic grain self-sharpens during use, extending wheel life on tough applications. Weight is 17.19 pounds.
This wheel is suited for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is a strong fit for production and toolroom environments where consistent material removal and wheel longevity matter. The porous, vitrified structure promotes cool cutting, which is especially important when working with heat-sensitive alloys and hardened tool steels. Typical applications include flat surface grinding, cylindrical OD grinding, and cutting tool reconditioning on CNC equipment.
Rated for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Series designation is 5SG Type 1, specification code 5SG80-KVS.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guidelines. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Do not exceed the rated maximum spindle speed of 1800 RPM, and ensure the machine spindle speed is verified prior to operation.
