The NORTON 66253263127 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel designed for aggressive stock removal on hard ferrous and specialty metals. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel carries a coarse Grade G hardness rating at 46 grit, making it well-suited for applications where high cut rates and cool cutting action are required. The wheel measures 12 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches thick with a 5-inch arbor hole, a one-side recess 0.5 inches deep and 7.5 inches in diameter, and a maximum operating speed of 2,070 RPM. This wheel is rated for use on 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The semi-friable ceramic grain continuously fractures under load, exposing fresh cutting edges and reducing heat buildup at the workpiece surface. This characteristic makes it a practical choice for high-production surface grinding operations in tool and die, maintenance, and metalworking shops where surface finish and thermal damage control are both priorities.

Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 requirements. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2,070 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Use flanges and blotters appropriate for the 5-inch arbor hole and Type 5 recessed profile. Never exceed the rated speed under any operating condition.
