The NORTON 66253246902 is a Type 1 vitrified surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built on the 32A aluminum oxide platform, it measures 12 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, with a 5-inch arbor hole. At 46 grit with an H hardness rating, it delivers a coarse, aggressive cut suited for flat surface grinding applications. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and consistent grain exposure throughout the wheel life. Maximum operating speed is 2,070 RPM. At 8.4 pounds, the wheel is sized for full-size surface and cylindrical grinders. Machinists and tool room technicians are the primary installers and operators of this wheel.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and tool room environments. Compatible material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The 12-inch diameter and 1-inch face width make it well matched to mid-to-large capacity surface grinder spindles with a 5-inch arbor bore. It is a non-porous, non-tapered, non-recessed wheel suitable for straight-face grinding passes.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines equipped with a 5-inch arbor bore accepting a 12-inch diameter Type 1 grinding wheel. Material compatibility includes 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 2,070 RPM maximum rated speed of this wheel. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the wheel. After mounting, run the wheel in a guarded position for at least one minute before applying it to a workpiece.
