The NORTON 66253044790 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, it carries a 46 grit, coarse grade designation suited for aggressive material removal while maintaining consistent wheel geometry. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. It is rated to a maximum of 3,105 RPM and falls into hardness code I, which reflects a medium hardness rating on the vitrified scale. Licensed grinding machine operators and tool room machinists are the primary installers and end users of this wheel.
This grinding wheel is engineered for use on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders in shop and industrial environments. The aluminum oxide abrasive construction makes it well suited for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The one-side recessed Type 5 profile reduces wheel weight and allows clearance for flanges on appropriate grinding spindles. Never exceed the maximum RPM stamped or labeled on the wheel.
