The NORTON 66252942690 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built on a vitrified bond with 46-grit aluminum oxide abrasive and an I hardness code (medium), this wheel delivers a coarse cut with controlled breakdown suited to high-material-removal applications. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole with a one-side recess of 1/2 inch depth and 3 inches diameter. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. Specification code 32A46-IVBE identifies the abrasive series. Licensed machinists, toolroom grinders, and industrial maintenance techs are the primary installers.
This wheel is suited to surface grinder and cylindrical grinder applications in production and toolroom environments. Rated material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The coarse 46-grit structure makes it a strong choice for roughing cuts and rapid material removal rather than finish grinding passes. It performs well on both wet and dry setups where the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the rated 3,600 RPM.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Compatible material applications include 400 Series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron, as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per ANSI B11.9 or the grinder manufacturer guidelines. Never exceed the rated maximum speed of 3,600 RPM, and confirm spindle speed before operation.
