The NORTON 66252942686 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel designed for aggressive stock removal on a wide range of metals. Built with 32A aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled cutting action on surface grinders and cylindrical grinders alike. At 7 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard spindles without modification. The 60-grit, I-hardness (medium grade) combination suits general-purpose grinding where material removal rate and workpiece finish must be balanced. Rated to 3600 RPM maximum.
This wheel is suited for production and maintenance grinding applications in machine shops, tool rooms, and fabrication environments. It handles 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, vitrified bond structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during extended grinding passes. The one-side recessed Type 5 geometry provides clearance for flanges and fixtures in tight setups.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Rated for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and ensure flanges, blotters, and the arbor hole fit are correct before tightening. Allow the wheel to run at operating speed in a guarded position for at least one minute before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
