Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel, and use the correct flanges and blotter paper as required by the machine manufacturer. Stand clear of the wheel plane during the initial run-up period.
