The NORTON 66252942225 is a Type 5 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. Built around a white aluminum oxide abrasive grain with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled cutting action across a range of demanding applications. At 7 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard surface and cylindrical grinders. The 60-grit, medium-grade (Hardness Code I) construction balances material removal rate with surface finish quality. Maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM. The wheel carries the 38A60-IVBE specification designation, indicating a semi-friable grain structure designed for cool, free cutting.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding and cylindrical grinding operations on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. It fits production and maintenance shops where consistent wheel performance and dimensional accuracy are required. The one-side recessed profile (Type 5) provides clearance for flange mounting hardware, reducing interference during grinding passes. It is sold individually and is appropriate for licensed machinists, tool grinders, and industrial maintenance technicians working with conventional wet or dry surface grinding setups.
Designed for use with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders accepting a 7-inch diameter, 1-1/4 inch arbor hole Type 5 wheel. Rated for soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys per manufacturer specification.
Wheel installation must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment technician in accordance with ANSI B11.9 and the grinder manufacturer's mounting instructions. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Do not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating marked on the wheel.
