The NORTON 66252942218 is a Type 5 recessed surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built on an aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this 7-inch diameter wheel runs at a maximum of 3600 RPM and delivers consistent, medium-grade cutting action. The 60-grit specification and J hardness rating balance aggressive material removal with controlled surface finish. At 3/4 inches thick with a 1-1/4-inch arbor hole and a single-side recess of 1/4 inch deep by 2-3/4 inches in diameter, this wheel fits standard surface and cylindrical grinder spindles used in production and maintenance grinding applications.
This wheel is suited for surface and cylindrical grinding operations in machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance facilities. It performs across a broad range of materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. The porous, vitrified structure promotes coolant flow and chip clearance, making it well-matched to both wet and dry grinding setups on dedicated surface grinders and cylindrical grinders.

Grinding wheel installation must be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 guarding requirements. Always perform a ring test before mounting and inspect the wheel for cracks or damage. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Mount with correct blotters and flanges; never force the wheel onto the arbor.
