The NORTON 66252941943 is a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inches arbor hole. It runs at a maximum of 3,600 RPM and carries a 60 grit, K hardness (medium grade) rating — a combination well suited to controlled material removal on hard and soft steels, cast iron, and aluminum. The vitrified bond provides consistent grain exposure and good wheel breakdown behavior under surface grinding loads. Licensed machinists, tool room technicians, and industrial maintenance trades are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding and cylindrical grinding applications in tool room, production, and maintenance environments. It performs across a broad range of materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by qualified machine operators or maintenance trades following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 safe guarding requirements. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test per standard procedure. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and verify that spindle RPM does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Use the correct flange size and paper blotter washers to ensure even clamping pressure.
