The NORTON 66252940882 is a Type 1 vitrified aluminum oxide surface grinding wheel built for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. At 7 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, the wheel mounts directly to standard surface grinder spindles. It runs at a maximum of 3600 RPM and carries a 60-grit, J-hardness (medium) rating, making it well suited for moderate material removal while maintaining consistent surface finish. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and free-cutting action, and the porous structure allows effective coolant penetration and chip clearance during extended grinding operations. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance grinders are the typical installers.
This wheel is rated for use on 400 series stainless steel, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is designed for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The 32A series designation identifies the specific aluminum oxide abrasive blend and bond specification (32A60-JVBE), which targets general-purpose precision grinding across a broad range of shop applications, from tool room work to production surface finishing.

Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 1910.215 standards. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Always perform a ring test and run the wheel at operating speed with the guard in place before bringing it into contact with the workpiece.
