The NORTON 66252939862 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, it delivers consistent cut rates and good form retention across a wide range of surface grinding applications. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. Grit is 46 coarse with a K hardness (medium) rating, and the wheel is rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM. The vitrified bond structure is porous, which aids in chip clearance and helps prevent loading during aggressive passes.
This wheel is suited for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production and maintenance shop environments. Typical applications include flat surface grinding on tool steels, hard and soft carbon steels, 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It fits standard spindle setups accepting a 1-1/4 inch bore. The 32A specification designates a Norton aluminum oxide grain blend optimized for ferrous and high-alloy materials.
Compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines accepting a 7 inch diameter, 1/4 inch thick Type 1 wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore. Material applications include 400 Series Stainless, hard and soft carbon steels, tool steels, aluminum, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheels must be installed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel, and always dress the wheel before initial use to true the face and expose fresh grain.
