The NORTON 66252939847 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision stock removal and finish grinding on a range of metals. Built on an aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel carries a 220 grit, Very Fine grade designation and an L hardness code, placing it in the medium-soft hardness range. At 7 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it is sized for standard surface and cylindrical grinder spindles. The semi-friable aluminum oxide grain self-sharpens progressively, maintaining consistent cut rates across the wheel's service life. A rated maximum speed of 3600 RPM governs safe operating parameters. Licensed tradespeople and tool-room machinists are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is suited to surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, and CNC cutting tool machine applications. It performs well on soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys where a fine finish and controlled material removal are required. The non-porous, vitrified bond construction provides rigidity and dimensional stability, making it appropriate for wet or light dry grinding operations on precision-tolerance workpieces. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Rated for material applications including soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys. Fits standard 1-1/4 inch arbor spindles.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before installation, and never exceed the rated maximum speed of 3600 RPM. Proper flanges and blotters must be used to ensure even clamping pressure across the wheel face.
