The NORTON 66252939812 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel built for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and alloys. Measuring 7 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The wheel is made from white aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, rated Medium grade at K hardness. At 80 grit, it delivers a balance of cut rate and surface finish suited to tool and cutter work as well as general surface grinding applications. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM.
This wheel is appropriate for grinding soft carbon steels, tool steels, and super alloys in both shop and production environments. The vitrified bond provides good form-holding and free-cutting action, making it a common choice on surface grinders used for precision flat-grinding of machine components, cutting tools, and die work. The semi-friable aluminum oxide grain self-sharpens progressively under load, helping maintain consistent cut throughout the wheel life. Typical users include tool and die makers, machine shop technicians, and CNC grinding operators.

Installation must be performed by a qualified grinding machine operator or machinist following ANSI B7.1 safety requirements for abrasive wheels. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test before installation — never mount a damaged wheel. After mounting, run the wheel at operating speed inside the guard for at least one minute before presenting work, and always confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel.
