The NORTON 66252849379 is a Type 27 depressed-center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. At 9 inches in diameter and 0.25 inches thick, this coarse 20-grit wheel uses aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond for durable, consistent stock removal. The reinforced construction handles the stresses of angle grinder use, and the semi-friable grain continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during operation. Rated to 6,600 RPM, it fits grinders via a standard 0.625-inch arbor hole. This wheel is installed and used by metal fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and welders across heavy fabrication and construction applications.
This wheel is suited for grinding welds, cleaning castings, beveling plate steel, and removing excess material from structural steel, pipe, and other ferrous workpieces. Its coarse 20-grit designation makes it appropriate for high-removal tasks where surface finish is secondary to cut rate. It is not intended for cutting operations. Typical use is on electric or pneumatic right-angle grinders in both shop and field environments.
Designed for use on angle grinders with a 0.625-inch arbor and a wheel guard rated for Type 27 wheels at or above 6,600 RPM. Verify guard and grinder compatibility before mounting.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive wheel safety per ANSI B7.1 standards. Always power down and disconnect or unplug the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use and do not use a damaged wheel. Ensure the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the wheel maximum RPM, and always use the appropriate Type 27 wheel guard during operation.
