The NORTON 66252849375 is a Type 27 depressed-center grinding wheel designed for aggressive stock removal on metal surfaces. The wheel measures 5 inches in diameter and 0.25 inches thick, with a 0.875-inch arbor hole for standard angle grinder mounting. It uses aluminum oxide abrasive grain at a coarse 20 grit rating, bonded with a resinoid bond and reinforced for durability under load. The medium hardness (grade P) and semi-friable grain structure allow the wheel to cut aggressively while resisting glazing. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trades routinely use this type of wheel for weld grinding, surface prep, and deburring on ferrous materials.
This wheel is suited for use on angle grinders in residential and commercial construction, mechanical rooms, fabrication shops, and field service environments. Typical applications include grinding weld beads, removing rust or scale, and shaping or beveling steel, iron, and other ferrous workpieces. The Type 27 depressed-center profile keeps the wheel body clear of the workpiece, giving the operator a low-angle grinding position for flat or contoured surfaces.
Designed as a standard replacement Type 27 depressed-center grinding wheel for 5-inch angle grinders fitted with a 0.875-inch arbor.
Installation and use of grinding wheels should be performed by qualified tradespeople following ANSI B7.1 safe-use requirements and applicable jobsite safety codes. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips and confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the wheel maximum RPM rating. Always install the proper flange and arbor nut and ensure the guard is in place before powering the tool. Wear appropriate PPE including eye and face protection.
