The NORTON 63642595459 is a 2-inch ceramic alumina quick-change abrasive disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. It uses a Speed-Lok TS (Type S) attachment system for fast, tool-free disc changes on compatible handheld disc sanders. The 80-grit ceramic grain is self-sharpening — as the abrasive works, it fractures to expose fresh, sharp cutting edges. A resin bond system locks grain in place throughout the disc life, and a self-lubricating grain treatment reduces heat buildup at the work surface. Rated to 30,000 RPM, this disc is built for high-speed grinding tasks in fabrication and metalworking environments.
This disc is rated for use on 300 Series and 400 Series stainless steel, making it well-suited for fabrication shops, weld finishing, and maintenance work on stainless components. The coarse 80-grit cut rate handles weld blending, deburring, and rapid stock removal in a single disc format. The orange polyester-backed construction with silver button is part of the R980P series. It is intended for use with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S quick-change hub. Minimum order quantity is 25 units; each unit is packaged individually.
Designed for handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S (Speed-Lok TS) quick-change hub. Rated for grinding and finishing on 300 Series and 400 Series stainless steel.
Installation is performed by metalworkers and fabricators using a compatible Type S quick-change backing pad. Verify the backing pad and tool spindle speed do not exceed the 30,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs. Inspect the disc for damage or delamination before each use and discard any disc that shows signs of wear through the backing.
