The NORTON 63642506216 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) sanding disc designed for aggressive material removal on flat surfaces. The disc measures 6 inches in diameter and uses 40-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, placing it in the coarse grade range for rapid stock removal, paint stripping, and surface preparation. It features an F-weight paper backing, which provides a balance of flexibility and support suited to orbital and disc sanders used in metal fabrication, woodworking, and general industrial finishing. Installation requires no tools beyond a compatible PSA-backed sanding pad — the adhesive backing mounts directly to the platen.
This disc is suited for professional use in woodworking shops, metal fabrication facilities, and general manufacturing environments where fast, aggressive surface preparation is required. The 6-inch diameter fits standard random orbital and disc sanders equipped with PSA platens. The coarse 40-grit specification makes it appropriate for initial stock removal, weld blending, rust removal, and stripping old finishes from wood or metal substrates. The paper backing and flexible construction allow the disc to conform slightly to mild surface contours during use.
Designed for use with 6-inch PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) sanding platens on random orbital disc sanders and stationary disc sanders. No vacuum hole configuration requires a solid, non-perforated platen.
Power down and unplug the sander before replacing the disc. Peel the release liner from the PSA backing and align the disc squarely to the platen before pressing firmly to seat the adhesive. Ensure the platen surface is clean and free of adhesive residue from the previous disc before mounting a new one to maintain secure adhesion during operation. Discs should be inspected before each use and discarded if the abrasive layer shows excessive loading, tearing, or delamination from the backing.
