The NORTON 63642504334 is a Type 29 ceramic flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on angle grinders used in metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface conditioning. At 36 grit, this disc falls in the very coarse grade range, making it well-suited for rapid stock removal and heavy deburring. The ceramic abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining a consistent cut rate across the life of the disc. A fiberglass backing provides structural rigidity and resistance to flex fatigue under load. The disc is rated to 8,600 RPM and accepts a standard 7/8 inch arbor hole. It weighs 0.46 pounds and is sold individually.
This disc is intended for use on 7 inch angle grinders in industrial and trade settings, including metal shops, fabrication facilities, and on-site structural work. Typical applications include weld seam blending, rust and scale removal, and chamfering on ferrous and hard metals. The Type 29 conical geometry increases contact surface area on flat and contoured workpieces compared to a flat Type 27 disc, making it a common choice when blending broad surface areas or working at lower grind angles.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 7 inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8 inch arbor spindle and capable of operating within the 8,600 RPM maximum speed rating.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with angle grinder safety practices and applicable ANSI B7.1 standards. Always confirm the grinder's rated no-load RPM does not exceed the disc's 8,600 RPM maximum before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage prior to each use and never use a disc that shows visible defects.
