The NORTON 63642501865 is a Type 27 flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on angle grinders. Built with ceramic alumina abrasive, it delivers consistent cut rates and longer disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide alternatives. The coated, coarse 36-grit construction removes weld spatter, mill scale, and surface oxidation from steel and hard metals efficiently. Backed by a rigid plastic plate, the disc maintains a flat grinding profile suited for surface blending and stock removal. The 7/8-inch arbor hole fits standard angle grinder spindles, and the 13,300 RPM maximum speed rating keeps it compatible with most 4-1/2-inch grinders. Metalworkers, fabricators, and welders are the primary users of this disc.
This flap disc is suited for heavy grinding and blending applications on ferrous metals, structural steel, and fabricated assemblies. The Type 27 flat profile is preferred when working on flat surfaces and inside joints where a low-profile disc reduces interference. It is commonly used in metal fabrication shops, welding stations, and structural steel work where fast stock removal at a coarse grit is needed before moving to finer finishing stages.
Designed for use with 4-1/2-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor spindle and a maximum speed rating of at least 13,300 RPM.
Mounting and disc changes must be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder fully powered down and unplugged. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate above the rated 13,300 RPM. Ensure the guard is properly installed before operation. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable workplace safety standards when using coated abrasive flap discs.
