The NORTON 08834166900 is a Type II quick-change coated abrasive disc designed for handheld disc sanders used in metal fabrication, maintenance, and surface preparation work. The disc measures 2 inches in diameter and features an 80-grit aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a Y-weight 2-ply polyester and cloth backing. The coated construction delivers a faster cut rate and extended disc life compared to lighter backing materials. At a maximum rating of 30,000 RPM, this disc is suited for aggressive deburring, cleaning, and detailing operations on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this disc.
This disc is intended for use on 300 series stainless steel, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium. The Type II (TS) attaching system provides secure, tool-free mounting and quick disc changes during high-volume surface prep work. It is well suited to handheld disc sander applications in fabrication shops, field maintenance environments, and production finishing lines where consistent stock removal and detailing on small workpieces are required.
Designed for use with Type S and Type II (TS) quick-change handheld disc sanders. Compatible material applications include 300 series stainless steel, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and titanium.
Install and remove the disc with the sander powered off and disconnected from its power source. Align the disc button with the tool arbor and press firmly until the quick-change mechanism seats fully before operating. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM maximum disc rating before use. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace immediately if cracks, tears, or delamination are observed.
