The NORGREN MS001A is a sintered bronze pneumatic exhaust muffler designed to reduce noise and control airflow at the exhaust ports of pneumatic valves, cylinders, and actuators. Threaded with a 1/8 inch male NPT connection, it installs directly into standard exhaust ports without additional fittings. The sintered bronze construction provides a 40-micron filtration rating, trapping particulates carried out with exhaust air while allowing a rated flow of 20 CFM. With an overall length of 1.13 inches and a hex size of 0.44 inches, it is a compact, lightweight component at 0.04 pounds. Licensed pneumatic system technicians and industrial maintenance professionals are the typical installers.
This muffler is suited for use in compressed air systems found in industrial automation, manufacturing, and process control environments. It fits standard 1/8 inch NPT exhaust port applications on directional control valves, solenoid valves, and pneumatic actuators. Its rated maximum operating temperature of 176 degrees F makes it appropriate for most standard indoor pneumatic applications. The sintered bronze element also provides a degree of back-pressure protection by filtering debris from exhaust streams before it re-enters the work area.
Designed as a standard replacement exhaust muffler for pneumatic valves, cylinders, and actuators equipped with 1/8 inch NPT exhaust ports in compressed air systems.
This component is installed by pneumatic system technicians or industrial maintenance personnel. Depressurize and lock out the compressed air supply before servicing any pneumatic valve or actuator. Thread the muffler into the exhaust port by hand first, then snug with a wrench on the hex flats — do not overtighten sintered bronze fittings. Inspect the sintered element periodically for clogging, as a blocked muffler will reduce actuator cycle speed and increase back-pressure on valve seals.
