The NORDIC TECHNOLOGY fs5000 is a thermostat wire extender designed to add three control wires and a common C connection to an existing two-wire thermostat cable. This device allows technicians to expand limited thermostat wiring without running new cable through walls or conduit. It enables full low-voltage control signal distribution, supporting R, C, W1, W2, Y, and G terminals over an existing two-wire run. Licensed HVAC technicians working on thermostat upgrades and system control retrofits are the primary installers of this device.
The fs5000 is used in residential HVAC applications where existing thermostat wiring is insufficient for modern control requirements. It is particularly suited for upgrading systems from single-stage heating to two-stage heating and air conditioning. When a homeowner or building owner upgrades to a multi-stage or communicating thermostat that requires a common C wire and additional control leads, the fs5000 provides a practical solution without major wiring work.
Designed for use with two-wire thermostat cable installations requiring expanded low-voltage control wiring for two-stage heating and air conditioning systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with low-voltage control wiring. Power down the air handler or furnace at the disconnect or breaker before making any wiring connections. Follow the equipment manufacturer wiring diagram and applicable NEC low-voltage wiring guidelines when connecting control terminals. Do not apply line voltage to any low-voltage control terminal on this device.
