The NORDIC PURE 20x20x4PCP-2 is a pleated carbon air filter rated MERV 8, sold as a 2-pack with a nominal size of 20x20x4 inches and an actual size of 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.625 inches. The filter media is a non-woven polyester base infused with naturally derived activated charcoal, designed to capture airborne particulates while simultaneously neutralizing odors from pets, smoke, cooking, and household chemicals including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). A heavy-duty moisture-resistant beverage board frame and bonded metal mesh support grid maintain pleat integrity and airflow across the full service life. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers install this filter in place of a standard 20x20x4 nominal furnace or air handler filter.
This filter is suited for residential applications in single-family homes and apartments where odor control is a priority alongside particulate filtration. It also functions as a pre-filter in commercial or light-industrial HVAC systems with high-efficiency downstream filtration where controlling strong incoming odors is required. The MERV 8 rating captures common residential contaminants including pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. Nordic Pure recommends a replacement interval of every 3 to 6 months depending on odor load and usage conditions. Note: the actual depth is 3.625 inches, not the nominal 4 inches - measure the filter slot before ordering to confirm fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for residential and light-commercial furnace and air handler systems that accept a 20x20x4 nominal filter slot. Actual installed dimensions are 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.625 inches - verify slot depth before installation. If your existing unit requires a 4.375-inch depth filter such as certain Honeywell systems, this filter is not the correct fit.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified homeowner. Always shut off the furnace or air handler at the equipment disconnect or thermostat before removing or inserting any filter. Confirm airflow direction arrows on the filter frame align with the direction of airflow toward the blower. Inspect the filter slot and frame seal for bypass gaps after installation to ensure all air passes through the media.
