The NORDIC PURE 18x25x1PCP-3 is a pure carbon pleated air filter designed to capture airborne particles and absorb odors at a molecular level in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Rated at approximately MERV 8, it targets large airborne particles including lint, dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, mold spores, and smoke. The non-woven polyester base media is infused with naturally derived charcoal and activated carbon from coconut shells, enabling it to trap and neutralize volatile organic compounds (VOCs), cooking smells, pet odors, and smoke. Sold in a 3-pack, the filter uses a moisture-resistant beverage board frame with a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats for structural integrity.
This filter is suited for residential installations in single-family homes and apartments, and it can function as a pre-filter in high-efficiency commercial HVAC units where odor control is a priority. The pleated carbon media design provides approximately three times the activated carbon surface area compared to a flat-panel carbon filter, improving odor absorption without significantly restricting airflow. The media does not support mold growth. Technicians and homeowners servicing standard 1-inch filter slots in forced-air furnaces and central air systems will find this filter a direct fit for nominal 18x25x1 openings. Replacement interval is every 30 to 90 days depending on environment and odor load.
Designed for residential forced-air furnaces and central air conditioning systems using standard nominal 18x25x1 filter slots. Can also serve as a pre-filter in high-efficiency commercial HVAC units requiring odor control. Actual size is 17.5 inches x 24.5 inches x 0.75 inches - verify the actual slot dimensions before installation to confirm fit.
Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the old filter. Confirm airflow direction arrows on the filter frame align with the direction of air movement toward the blower before seating the filter. Check the actual slot dimensions against the 17.5 x 24.5 x 0.75 inch actual size, not the nominal size, to ensure proper fit and prevent air bypass. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently during renovation work or high-odor conditions, to maintain filtration and odor control performance.
