The NORDIC PURE 18x24x2PM12C-3 is a MERV 12 pleated air filter with an activated carbon layer, sold in a 3-pack. The dual-material construction fuses MERV 12 rated filter media with a carbon layer, reducing flow restriction while adding 33% more surface area compared to standard pleated designs. This results in both mechanical particle capture and adsorption of odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The filter media is permanently electrostatically charged and treated with an antimicrobial agent to resist bacterial and mold growth. Nominal size is 18 x 24 x 2 inches with an actual size of 17.38 x 23.38 x 1.75 inches. A licensed HVAC technician or knowledgeable DIYer installs these filters in residential or light commercial forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC applications where both particulate filtration and odor control are priorities. It captures lint, household dust, pollen, smoke particles, dust mites, pet dander, virus carriers, mold spores, allergens, and bacteria. The activated carbon layer adsorbs VOCs, cooking odors, and other household odors that standard MERV-rated media alone cannot address. It is particularly appropriate for households with pets, allergy sufferers, or occupants sensitive to airborne contaminants. Nordic Pure recommends replacing the filter every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently during home renovation projects or periods of heavy use.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 18 x 24 x 2 inch nominal filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling systems. Verify actual slot dimensions against the actual filter size of 17.38 x 23.38 x 1.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ.
Power down or set the thermostat to off before replacing the filter to prevent unfiltered air from bypassing the media during the swap. Confirm airflow direction by matching the arrow printed on the filter frame to the direction of air movement toward the blower. Filter replacement is a routine maintenance task within the scope of both licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers. Replace every 30 to 90 days under normal conditions, or sooner in high-dust or renovation environments.
